Hannah Cleasby

Mental Health First Aid Instructor

It all started when…

“I completed a Youth Mental Health First Aid course and realised that everyone who works with young people needs to be trained in Mental Health First Aid. As a teacher I was seeing more and more young children with poor mental health but I was not confident enough to know how best to help them. After the course I was equipped with the skills and confidence to have those difficult conversations, and provide that much needed reassurance and support.

Everyone has mental health and it is just as important as physical health. I truly believe that everyone, whatever their occupation, should have some form of mental health training so that they are able to spot the early warning signs of mental ill health, provide reassurance and support and enable that person to get the help that they need”.

Hannah is currently a primary school teacher, working part-time, teaching two days a week. She is also qualified to deliver Mental Health First Aid Training on behalf of Mental Health First Aid England. She is married with two young daughters and a cat. Prior to becoming a teacher, Hannah worked as an assistant occupational psychologist, helping people with acquired brain injuries return to the workplace, which included overcoming mental health difficulties. She has an BSc in Psychology and Health Sciences and a MSc in Forensic Psychology. She is also trained to deliver the ‘Life Decider Skills’, a form of CBT.
